Type of Work
Commercial / Atelier renovation An unexpected water damage became the catalyst for a complete spatial upgrade — transforming disruption into a new benchmark of quality and performance.
Overview
Following a severe water incident in 2023, what was initially planned as a technical restoration evolved into a full redesign. The aim shifted from reinstating the previous state to surpassing it, both aesthetically and functionally.
Our Beginning
The atelier’s structure and finishes were compromised, but the interruption offered an opportunity to rethink light, layout, and material choices with greater ambition than before.
Key interventions
• Ceiling and lighting architecture: a newly designed suspended ceiling integrates a stronger, more diffuse lighting system, eliminating shadow zones.
• Advanced colour study: walls and furnishings were recalibrated through a refined chromatic concept, achieving a more coherent and professional atmosphere.
• Flooring upgrade: the original floor was replaced with a higher-performance surface, improving durability and interaction with the new lighting conditions.
• Layout re-engineering: existing furniture was repositioned to optimise workflows, complemented by newly designed bespoke elements.
Role of the team
Atelier Ottimo led the redesign logic and material coordination; Berliner Bautechnik managed demolition, rebuilding, and precise execution under post-damage constraints.
Transformation
From a space marked by structural damage, the atelier emerged stronger, clearer, and more refined. The renewed environment communicates stability and craftsmanship, defined by heightened attention to detail.
